History of the Agawam St. Patrick's Committee

In the Fall of 2000, a small group of "Irish”, men met to discuss the
formation of an Irish Cultural club/committee in the town of Agawam. They agreed to advertise for like minded people and meet again in  December. A group of about 12 people showed up to that  second meeting. The group, known as the Agawam Irish Committee, was on its way. This group nominated Bob Magovern and Angela Phillips as Co-Chairmen of the club and in a three month period put together a Colleen Pageant, Corned Been Dinner, coronation and a float to carry our Colleen and her court in the Holyoke St Patrick’s Parade. Our first Parade Marshal, Paul Kelley, led us that day. That first year so many things were accomplished. A committee was formed to produce by-laws, a formal name was approved, The Agawam St Patrick’s Committee, a logo was adopted and the foundation of our committee was established.
